6 Ideas on How to Win Money

Updated: Sep 19, 2022

Want to win money? Of course you do! Everyone wants to win money, but not everyone knows how to get started or what they’re doing wrong.

To help you out, I’ve gathered six ideas on how to win money that you can start using right away.

If you keep these tips in mind as you go through your day, I guarantee that you’ll be winning more and more money as time goes on! Let’s get started!

Ideas on How to Win Money

1) Play the lottery

Lotto fever is a curious thing. Players search for weeks, months, even years for that elusive winning combination. They become obsessed with trying to crack an impossible code, convinced that any given ticket will be the one.

Although there are roughly 302 million possible combinations in North America's two biggest lotteries—Mega Millions and Powerball—only one person wins each jackpot.

That means odds of 1 in 175 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292 million for Powerball if you were to buy two tickets every single day!

If you buy lottery tickets, it's important not to become overly fixated on winning; by all accounts, chasing after a jackpot while ignoring other moneymaking opportunities is a good way to go broke.

2) Explore Side Jobs

Side hustles can provide a number of opportunities for working professionals who want to make money outside of their regular job.

From driving for Uber or Lyft part-time to providing house cleaning services, side jobs are a great way for anyone looking to generate extra income or find a source of cash flow if they run into financial trouble.

While you’ll need some startup capital, depending on your skillset, it’s possible that some sort of side hustle could be in your future. Here are a few on how you can "win" money outside of your regular job.

3) Start an Etsy Shop

If you have a knack for creating artistic or crafty products, such as homemade jewelry, bags, soaps, or holiday wreaths, consider starting an online store as a side business idea.

Although such goods aren't always hugely profitable, they can still bring in some extra money and help you hone your skills.

The great thing about an Etsy store is that you can either make items by hand or buy them from suppliers and then sell them on the platform.

In addition to selling your wares online, consider hosting workshops in your home or garden for extra money. Another fun idea is to set up a booth at a local craft fair and sell your stuff there!

4) Read and Write Reviews

Anyone who has ever bought something online knows how valuable a good review can be. People rely on reviews all across Amazon, Yelp, and Google, but many people don’t know that you can write reviews for anything you buy.

You can write a review of any product or service you purchase or use—and your opinion could help someone else out next time they need to make a purchase decision.

While writing online reviews is a great way to earn extra cash in your spare time, remember that anyone reading your review is one click away from finding out more about you—if they know what they’re looking for!

5) Earn or Win Rewards

No matter how much cash you’ve got, it’s never enough. However, there are a variety of ways that you can earn rewards by using your hard-earned money.

For example, if you pay your bills with a credit card and use that card for everyday purchases, be sure to pay those bills in full each month.

Doing so allows you to accrue points and miles (which is essentially free money) through various rewards programs such as Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards.

That said, always keep an eye out for a signup bonus: Many cards will offer big bonuses if you meet certain spending thresholds within 3 months of opening an account—so aim high!

6) Invest In Yourself

You are your best investment. By investing in yourself, you'll be learning skills that will allow you to not only make more money in your day job but also do what you love for a living.

You'll have more confidence in your abilities, which will lead to better results—and a higher net worth.

Sometimes we let fear of failure stop us from going after our dreams. Don't let fear get in your way; instead, invest in yourself and win money!
