Fellow business owners, is there anything more frustrating than putting in months of effort into setting up your E-Commerce, researching and importing products, only to find that when you go live, nothing happens? Fortunately, there are simple solutions to get your products out there and start seeing returns.
Let's delve into three strategies to boost your E-Commerce sales that work best when combined to create the ultimate approach.
What are the essentials of selling?
Before exploring the strategies, let's understand the basics of driving sales, applicable to various E-Commerce models, including Dropshipping, Amazon FBA, or White Labeling.
Create Traffic
First, you will want to drive people to your website or sales page (for my fellas with Amazon FBA). This can happen by creating ads, reaching out to friends and family, creating a social media account, and many more.
Increase the user's time on your page
If we’ve already invested lots of time and money to get potential customers to our website or sales page, we certainly do not want to lose them straight away after only a couple of seconds. Therefore, we need to make our website look interesting, place offers, and invest lots of time into setting up your website with great text.
Increase that conversion rate
Now that we've guided potential customers through desired actions, the last step is conversion. Achieve this with compelling product descriptions, top-notch visuals, and competitive pricing—while keeping an eye on your profit margin. Balancing appeal and profitability is crucial!
3 Strategies to up those sales
Let’s take a look at 3 strategies to boost your E-Commerce sales.
Use social media more
Wow, this is the strategy? Yes, it is! Whilst it might not be breaking news to get on social media to promote your products, it is one of the most effective ways to drive your sales up into the sky. One key aspect here is omnichannel outreach. As more than 70% of Americans have a social media account, you will likely reach a lot of potential customers.
Don’t focus only on Instagram or TikTok but instead try to do both. Also, you can just take things from Instagram and paste them, slightly changed, on TikTok and Vice Versa. Here are some easy steps to follow:
Create an Instagram profile
Follow lots of people who are in your niche
Create content
Set up TikTok and do the same
Reach out to other influencers asking them to test your products (Very Important!!!)
Create Stories, repost stuff, and engage with your audience
Ask for collaborations and reviews/tests of your product (YouTube can be great here)
Enjoy the sales
By following these steps and trusting the process, you will drive up your sales for sure! If social media is not your thing though, you can hire someone doing it for you or advertise the traditional way with Google Ads or other marketing campaigns.
Improve your conversion funnel
First of all: What is a conversion funnel? According to GetResponse, the conversion funnel in E-Commerce consists of 3 main elements:
Top of the funnel (ToFu)
Middle of the funnel (MoFu)
Bottom of the funnel (BoFu)
At the top of the funnel, it is key to attract as many potential customers as possible. We’ve covered this with the strategy above.
At the middle of the funnel, you will want to get as many people that click on your website to engage with it and stay longer than just a couple of seconds. Therefore, info products like an e-book explaining the use of your product or an informational email newsletter will be great ways to keep the reader on your site. Also, the text on the landing page has to be on point.
At the bottom of the funnel, it starts getting exiting. Here, the goal is to convert those interested people into buyers. Offering discounts or free trials can further encourage people to purchase your products. Also, the great product descriptions and pictures we mentioned above come into play now. This is where the money is made.
So, track your conversion to find possible parts that still need some work for an even more effective conversion funnel. Constant improvement is the key!
Start an Email campaign
An Email campaign is not the typical method you will think of when it comes to increasing your sales. Nevertheless, this can be a great way to stay engaged with your audience, remind them as soon as you drop a new product, and offer them discounts if they are not sure if they want to buy.
Also, it serves the purpose of keeping your readers informed about the use of your products, just as we’ve at the MoFu phase in our conversion funnel. This is also a crucial lesson you must understand. Nobody wants to follow a newsletter where someone constantly tries to sell you something. So, keep your newsletters mostly informative and let some calls to action happen organically.
If you don’t have the time or passion to do so, you can hire a copywriter to do it so you can focus on other things in your E-Commerce business.
So, what do I do now?
Focus on refining the middle and bottom of your conversion funnel. Prioritize design, compelling texts, product descriptions, and images. Strive for a balance between perfection and progress. As you build, consider customer acquisition strategies to broaden your reach and unleash opportunities for substantial sales growth.
Remember, the key is constant improvement in all aspects of your E-Commerce business.
